Best 4x6 thermal printer settings for marketplace labels
Even a perfectly cropped PDF can fail at the packing desk if the printer driver shrinks the page. This post covers the print settings Indian sellers use most often for 4x6 (100x150 mm) thermal rolls.

Set paper size to 4x6 not A4
In your printer preferences, choose a custom or preset size of 4 inches by 6 inches (100x150 mm). If the driver still thinks the job is A4, it may letterbox the label and shrink barcodes below scanner range.
After cropping on EcomCrop, open the PDF and confirm the page size matches your sticker stock before you send a long batch.
Always print at 100% scale
Turn off "Fit to page", "Shrink oversized pages", and auto rotate and center options that change scale. Barcodes need a consistent size; Fit to page is the most common reason scans fail after a good crop.
On Chrome print dialog, look for Scale: Default / 100%. On system dialogs, set scaling to Actual size.
Check darkness and speed
If text looks pale, raise print density one step at a time. Extremely dark settings can bloom thin barcode bars and also cause scan failures.
Medium speed is usually safer than maximum speed on older desktop thermals. Test two sample labels whenever you change ribbon or roll brand.
Workflow tip
Crop first with Label Crop (or Sort Meesho Labels), print a 2 or 3 page sample, scan with your handheld, then run the full file. Fix driver settings once per machine and save them as a preset named "4x6 marketplace".
Diagnose a barcode that scans on screen but not on paper
Start by ruling out scaling: compare the printed label dimensions with the PDF page dimensions and make sure the driver did not add margins. Then inspect whether narrow barcode bars have merged from excessive darkness or disappeared from low density.
Use the same sample page for every adjustment and change only one setting at a time. Record the paper size, density, speed, and successful scanner result so another packing computer can reproduce the setup.
A repeatable preflight checklist
Confirm the correct roll is loaded, the print head is clean, the PDF page matches the roll, scaling is 100%, and auto rotation is off unless the preview requires it. Check one address block and every barcode type on the sample label.
After a successful sample, print a small group before releasing the full batch. This catches a roll calibration or driver reset without wasting dozens of marketplace labels.
